Jeremy Lin spent two weeks with the Rockets organization in December before he was released on Christmas Eve to make room for Samuel Dalembert. By the end of the following week, he’d been picked up by the Knicks, and now that Lin’s turned in three straight impressive performances for his new team, Rockets GM Daryl Morey says he regrets letting Lin go. Morey took questions on Twitter today, and he was asked if he regretted waiving Lin. He first replied by saying that “@jlin7 is a very good player but Linsanity was not happening here this year,” then said that they already have two “starting caliber” point guards in Houston, in addition to Jonny Flynn. Then he explained that their scouting staff regularly brings in quality players to camp, but that sometimes good players are waived for roster reasons and because of guaranteed money. At this point, a Twitter user commented that “You seem pretty defensive about Lin. Why not just accept the mistake?” And then, he basically did. Tweeted Morey: “We should have kept @jlin7. Did not know he was this good. Anyone who says they knew misleading U.” Then lastly, some kind words for Lin: “Finally, really happy for @jlin7. Very hard working, nice, & humble.
