Before we think any more about the Knicks’ shartshow at the Garden last night and how this’ll all be over Sunday, we’d like to take a moment for levity. Last night, after the game (sorry, “game”), J.R. Smith, everybody’s favorite tattooed/tweeting space cadet, talked to some media folk. Now, we’ve grown to appreciate Smith this year, and we’ll miss him when he heads off to greener free-agent pastures this off-season. (That is to say, “Monday.”) But suffice it to say: Smith’s offensive game mostly consists of crazy isolation jumps and heaves at the end of the shot clock. We don’t even mind — we kind of like it, even! But still: It was pretty amazing to see Smith expound on his style of play thus: “My game isn’t really based on scoring. It’s based on getting the most plays for everybody else.” Yes. That is precisely what J.R. Smith’s game is based on. He’s like Jason Kidd or John Stockton that guy. (We miss him already.)
