2012 nhl eastern conference finals

Our PS3 Likes the Devils in Six

Sad Henrik.

So far this postseason, the Rangers have had no luck in the virtual NHL 12 PlayStation 3 world: Our PS3 had them losing to Ottawa in seven and to Washington in six. So, when we simulated the Eastern Conference finals against the New Jersey Devils, they didn’t have much more luck: The Devilsssssss breezed by the Rangers in six games. New Jersey jumped out to a 3-0 lead in a particularly heartbreaking fashion, beating the Rangers twice at the Garden 4-3 in overtime. (Two home overtime losses in a row. Ouch.) Down 3-2 as time dwindled down in Game 4, Derek Stepan scored with eight seconds left to tie the game, which the Rangers then won in overtime. After a 6-1 home win in Game 5, we thought that might have been the Rangers’ Dave Roberts moment, but, alas, the Devils won 4-1 in Game 6 to take home the Wales Trophy. Our PS3 has quite a reverse-jinx going. After the jump, the video of the Dave Roberts moment that almost turned the whole series around.

Is it too much to admit that we actually had to suppress a cheer when Stepan scored this goal? It probably is.
