Alderson: We Will Not Forfeit Any Game, Promise!

Mr. Met

The Mets made no trades yesterday, so the team that’s four games under .500 and nine games out of the Wild Card race will remain intact. The mindset of general manager Sandy Alderson seems sound to us: He believes his team getting to .500 and being respectable to harbor good will with fans is more important than some “low-A prospect.” He says the Mets haven’t given up on the season — current playoff odds: 1 percent! — and that they will play out their schedule. That’s good, because we suspect a couple of people, maybe even a few more than that, have already paid for their tickets.
