Yesterday, we wrote that there’s no reason to panic about the Yankees, at least not yet. And because we don’t imagine they’ll play .333 ball (as they have for the past couple of weeks) for much longer, we’d like to think that we would have written the same thing today if the Yankees had, in fact, blown a 7-0 lead last night, as opposed to merely coming dangerously close to blowing a 7-0 lead before adding some insurance runs and hanging on. But, yeah, given how they’ve struggled of late, and considering that they had their big lead with their ace on the mound, that would have been an especially rough loss. But hey, ugly, scary wins count all the same, and Curtis Granderson’s surely feeling good about his night, in which he finished a triple short of the cycle batting from the No. 6 spot. Now the Yankees go for the split in Detroit, in a game that starts in a little less than an hour.
