It wasn’t the prettiest game — or at least it wasn’t until midway through the third quarter — but the USA men’s basketball team cruised anyway, smashing Argentina 109-83 to advance to the gold medal game on Sunday. Carmelo Anthony missed a dunk and was awfully slow on defense (even for him), but he scored eighteen points and hit four three-pointers. The third-quarter run (the U.S. only led by seven at halftime) was keyed by Kevin Durant and LeBron James, and the tough Argentines were out of it after that. So the United States advances to play Spain, which came back to beat Russia earlier in the day, in the gold medal game on Sunday. Tipoff is 10 a.m. ET, so don’t drink too much Saturday night.
