Giants Win Second World Series in Three Years

Sergio Romo #54 of the San Francisco Giants celebrates with his teammates after striking out Miguel Cabrera #24 of the Detroit Tigers in the tenth inning to win Game Four of the Major League Baseball World Series at Comerica Park on October 28, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. The San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in the tenth inning to win the World Series in 4 straight games.
Pile on the mound!

On October 9, Reds starter Homer Bailey was no-hitting the San Francisco Giants in the sixth inning, with the Reds holding a 2-0 series lead at home. The Giants came back and won that game and the next two. On October 19, the Cardinals, up 3-1 on the Giants, had runners on second and third with nobody out in the second inning of a scoreless game, ready to break the game open and clinch a trip to the World Series. The Giants won that game … and then their next six, culminating in a 4-3 win last night over the Detroit Tigers to sweep the 2012 World Series. At least the Tigers finally scored some runs last night; before a Miguel Cabrera run in the third inning, they hadn’t scored since the ninth inning of Game 1. A Marco Scutaro single on the top of the tenth plated the final tally, and Sergio Romo struck out the side in the ninth. It’s the Giants’ second championship in two years; Pablo Sandoval was named World Series MVP. There are now no Major League Baseball games until April 1. That’s forever from now.
