lockouts suck

Random Hockey Video of the Day: Bobby Granger at the Mike

The NHL lockout has been in effect for nearly three months now, and so, with no actual games to report on, we’re going to link to a different hockey video every day until a new CBA is reached. Today: “You [bleep]ing suck, Forsberg!”

A few years back, the Rangers ran a series of commercials featuring a character named Bobby Granger, an everyfan with a thick New Yawk accent who says that if you cut him, he’d “bleed blue.” You can watch a bunch of them here, including one that aired right after the team clinched a playoff spot in 2006, in which Granger just went around the Garden hugging people. (If you recall how it felt when the Rangers finally got back to the playoffs that year, this makes perfect sense to you.)

Our favorite Bobby Granger commercial, though, is the one below. Sure, he’s a total caricature of a Rangers fan, but we’ve been to enough games at the Garden to know that it’s not that exaggerated. Seriously, if you were to stick a microphone on some random fan in the blue seats, there’s a pretty good chance he’d call the opposing team’s star a piece of shit within the first 30 seconds.

And so, on Day 88 of the NHL lockout, here’s Bobby Granger, censored.
