The NHL lockout has been in effect for more than three months now, and so, with no actual games to report on, we’re going to link to a different hockey video every day until a new CBA is reached. Today: The lockout gets the Taiwanese animation treatment.
The deadline to salvage even a shortened NHL season is approaching, but there have been some relatively promising developments in the last few days. (At the very least, the league and the union are exchanging proposals, which is what needs to be happening if they’re going to agree in time to start games later this month.) And while we really do believe they’re going to settle this in time to save the season — the league doesn’t need the same type of drastic changes that it did last time around, and there’s too much at stake for the NHL’s reputation if another full season is canceled — we’ve been burned by encouraging news before.
Last month, following a round of negotiations, there was optimism that the lockout could be nearing an end. Of course, talks broke down, and the lockout continued, but at least the twisted folks at Next Media Animation were there to chronicle that particular chapter in this depressing story.
And so, on Day 109 of the NHL lockout, we’re going to remain cautiously optimistic and hope that those flaming arrows don’t make another appearance.
