College football is catching up with baseball as the second-most-watched sport in the United States, and it might catch up if it weren’t for us New Yorkers, too busy with our lattes and our superstorms and our wilding to be bothered. Last night, the BCS Championship Game featured yet another team from the South destroying what passes for “Eastern” in college football (Indiana is practically Maine when it comes to college football these days). Alabama smashed Notre Dame 42–14, and it’s the seventh consecutive BCS title won by a team from the Southeastern Conference. Even if you hate Notre Dame — and if so, you will enjoy this — that’s a bit ridiculous. It does, however, aid New Yorkers in continuing to ignore the sport, even if the rest of the country is still just growing more crazy for it. We’ll see everybody at next year’s Pinstripe Bowl!

All that work for a dumb egg.
