Yoga Union
37 W. 28th St., nr. Broadway; 212-510-7404
Alison West opened this airy 3,800-square-foot midtown yoga studio over the summer, employing rope wall-stations and the same alignment principals that she uses across the street at her original space (where she treats clients with chronic back problems). The studio is offering a number of specials for the New Year, including a one-month unlimited pass for all classes (including West’s) for $115 (normally $225).

KiwiSweat

Late 2010 saw an emerging fitness trend: the pop-up. Alicia Thomas and Pam Graf’s company KiwiSweat travels to a new venue every month, introducing a new workout with new instructors. Starting January 21, they’ll occupy the Living Theatre on the Lower East Side, offering kickboxing sessions on the set of the theater’s upcoming production History of the World for 20 percent off (normally $27).

Plank Pilates
187 Chrystie St., nr. Rivington St.; 212-260-2501
Private chef Matthew Wadiak founded this handsome and cozy Lower East Side Pilates studio in April, offering both private and group sessions, with classes starting at $25. For the month of January, he’ll offer a free future group session (which maxes out at five people) to anyone who brings in a new client to the studio.

Marathon runners, USATF certified coaches, and pals Meghan Reynolds and Jessica Green started their Brooklyn-based running coaching service Hot Bird Running last spring, offering technique, strength training, and motivation in both group and private settings. Through January 10, they’ll offer 33 percent off a personal training session (from $75/hour) and 25 percent off monthly training packages (from $90).

Fitist
Fitist (fitist.com) launched this past year, offering curated fitness plans from some of the best boutique fitness studios in town (Flywheel, As1). Anyone who purchases one of their packages (from $115) in the month of January will receive a free four-pack class card for a friend. Options include plans for brides-to-be as well as the “intense” package for serious workout enthusiasts.

Sacred Sounds Yoga
163 Bleecker St., nr. Sullivan St.; 212-533-9642
This newcomer to the yoga world offers Vinyasa and Aerial yoga classes, as well as Tai Chi, in an area that lacks a lot of studios. For the month of January they’ll offer a complimentary month of unlimited yoga classes to those that purchase a six-month package (from $99 per month).
