Snacking With Hackers
This weekend’s “Snack the Planet” event at the Museum of Arts and Design (madmuseum.org) recreates the Internet cafe from the 1995 movie Hackers on the museum’s seventh floor, an attempt to reach back to a (slightly) more innocent stage of the Digital Age. The two-day event by artists Lauren Devine and Patrik Sandberg is part of the Fun, MAD’s fellowship program in the “social practice of nightlife.” Stop by for digital installations, Sunday-afternoon performances from local bands including Pictureplane and Mykki Blanco, an oxygen bar, and even a few actual snacks, including black-lit Jell-O shots (2 Columbus Circle, nr. Eighth Ave.; Sa, noon–5 p.m., free with museum admission; Su, noon–10 p.m., $12, $10 museum members).

Bike Store as Clubhouse
With the Red Hook Criterium, a local professional-level street bike race, approaching its fifth anniversary, its founder, David Trimble, has partnered with design firm Gage+DeSoto on a new space that they’re describing as “part our offices, part bike studio, part clubhouse, and part storefront.” The space itself is Red Hook–spare and bike-world sleek, with an emphasis on cycling craftsmanship and technique. Trimble will open shop on Saturdays between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., during which time it’ll sell gear (bikes from Ritte Racing and Legor, as well as vintage frames), show vintage race films, and make available its library of rare, out-of-print cycling magazines (70 Van Dyke St., at Richards St.; 646-334-8249; gagedesoto.com).

Lost Weekend Found
After weeks of teasing the neighborhood with fabulous—but private—opening celebrations, coffee shop-cum-boutique-cum-gallery Lost Weekend (lostweekendnyc) is finally open on the Lower East Side. The space is currently displaying the works of legendary social photographer Patrick McMullan, serving Blue Bottle coffee and swim gear from Nolita-based designer Saltbox (45 Orchard St., nr. Hester St.; M–F, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sa, 8 a.m..–8 p.m.; Su, 8 a.m..–4 p.m.; 917-573-9461.
