The Supreme Court’s only current female justice was hospitalized today and underwent surgery to address a cancerous growth in her abdomen. From the AP:
Ginsburg, 75, had the surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She will remain in the hospital for seven to 10 days, said her surgeon, Dr. Murray Brennan, according to a release issued by the court. The court announcement said the cancer is apparently in the early stages.
This isn’t Ginsburg’s first battle with cancer: In 1999, she had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment to address colon cancer. The justice recently told clerks that she hoped to serve well into her eighties. Get well soon, Ruth!
