Actor Daniel Radcliffe is something of a budding real-estate investor. He already owns an apartment in Richard Meier’s Morton Square buildings, and one in Jean Nouvel’s 40 Mercer. But now the Observer reports that for $5.65 million he’s purchased some digs that his Harry Potter character might appreciate a bit more — a historic townhouse on West 12th Street a couple of blocks from the Hudson. According to the Sotheby’s listing:
This lovingly renovated townhouse is one of three adjoining homes built by a sea captain in 1847 for his three daughters. The property is on one of New York’s most picturesque tree-lined landmark cobblestone blocks: West 12th Street, between Greenwich and Washington Streets. The 18 plus-foot-wide house faces South, and is soaked in sunlight throughout the day.
The sizeable open garden and backyard is cooled by beautiful old trees and landscaping.
Curbed has photos (it’s up-to-date inside) and the floor plan. There’s no word on whether Radcliffe will actually live there or rent it out as an investment property (it’s officially owned by a holding company run by his mother). But if he does, we’re totally going to start hanging out at Tortilla Flats down the block. You know he’d be a regular at Tequila Trivia on Sundays.
