The pilot of a two-seat Beechcraft airplane was practicing his landing at Islip MacArthur Airport in Bohemia, Long Island, yesterday when the plane crashed into an office building. Emergency crews airlifted the pilot to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was treated for severe burns; his passenger suffered less serious injuries. A “civilian” in the area is said to have initially pulled both the pilot and the passenger from the burning aircraft. [CNN]
