Oprah, well-known for her occasional spurts of extreme generosity to her staff (and studio audiences), surprised workers in Hearst Tower today when she stopped by to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her O Magazine. It was a welcome visit: To each staffer, no matter how long they’d worked there, she handed out an iPad and case engraved with the staffer’s initials, and a check for $10,000. The iPad is nice and all, but that’s one lucky day for some editorial assistants. Their annual salary nearly doubled today! [Ad Age]
