ABC News Chief to Resign Tuesday

The New York Times is reporting that David Westin, president of ABC News, will announce his resignation Tuesday after “a long-running conflict” between Westin and the network’s management over the news division’s finances. Disney and ABC had continually pushed Westin — who has had the job since 1997 — to make the division profitable and were allegedly “unhappy with his efforts to accomplish that goal.” Westin is expected to address the staff Tuesday and pledge to remain in the position until the end of the year.
