Mayor Bloomberg has long held the title for biggest personal fortune spent by a candidate on a single political campaign. He set the record with $85 million during his second mayoral run in 2005, and surpassed it last year by spending $108 million on his third campaign. Somewhere in his home there may be a plaque commemorating the feat. If so, that plaque is now obsolete. After the latest infusion of cash to campaign coffers, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman has spent $119 million and counting of her own money in the race for governor of California. [LAT]
