Let he who has an authentic U.S. birth certificate cast the first stone, but that won’t be Donald Trump. On Monday Trump released a copy of what he claimed was his “official” birth certificate, but it wasn’t actually official. The paper lists Trump’s date and time of birth, but does not contain the Department of Health’s seal or city registrar’s signature required to make it an official document. And that’s not Trump’s only problem: As Politico’s Ben Smith kindly pointed out:
Trump’s mother, it should be noted, was born in Scotland, which is not part of the United States. His plane is registered in the Bahamas, also a foreign country. This fact pattern — along with the wave of new questions surrounding what he claims is a birth certificate — raises serious questions about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States.
