Last night, CBS News foreign correspondent Lara Logan spoke in more detail about the sustained sexual assault she suffered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. The video is below if you want to watch her account, and it’s pretty graphic and upsetting. But she sheds light on how the attack finally ended. As her attackers dragged her away from her team, she was pushed up against a fence where a group of women in head-to-toe black chadors were sitting. She fell into the lap of one of them. “Just her eyes, I remember, just her eyes,” she explained to Scott Pelley. “She put her arms around me. And oh my God, I can’t tell you what that moment was like for me. I wasn’t safe yet, because the mob was still trying to get at me. But now it wasn’t just about me anymore. It was about their women, and that was what saved me, I think … The women kind of closed ranks around me.” Eventually the CBS team summoned soldiers, who picked up Lara and fought their way out of the crowd.
