Two NYPD police officers — one fired, the other still working — are being eyed in the case of the Long Island serial killer, according to the New York Post. The cops have both run into trouble for hiring prostitutes. One was forced out of the job in the nineties, after his supervisors learned that, while he was supposed to be on patrol, he was paying hookers, street walkers, and “down-and-out women” for sex. That cop resigned “under pressure,” a source said. The other cop still works for the NYPD, but he was stripped of his gun and badge after allegedly assaulting a prostitute, on the job. It’s unclear what evidence investigators have against them in relation to the Long Island murders, but investigators previously suspected the culprit could be a police officer. [NYP]
