Yesterday, about 300 couples braved the heat to obtain marriage licenses at the New York City Clerk’s office, during special hours offered to celebrate the legalization of marriage between same-sex couples. Dozens of volunteers made the process easier, and cheered outside as happy couples came out with their paperwork. We sent photographer Jim Kiernan to document the lovely day.
