Levi Aron Has a Personality Disorder

Although Levi Aron was declared fit to stand trial in the murder of 8-year-old Brooklyn boy Leiby Kletzky, the results of his psychiatric evaluation paint a dark picture of a broken man who never received the help he needed. The results, obtained by the Associated Press, call Aron’s mood “neutral, practically blank,” and he claims to have suffered a head injury as a child. Aron said he was “embarrassed” about hearing a voice in his head, but that it did not command him to do anything, contradicting earlier statements to doctors that “the voice commanded him to hurt himself and others.” He has been diagnosed with an adjustment disorder, as well as a personality disorder with schizoid features, and his lawyer is working to determine “whether or not his disorders are sufficient to meet the not guilty by reason of mental disease or mental defect threshold.” The report also noted that Aron spent most of his life alone and online, and “made a lot of audio and video recordings of himself doing karaoke.”
