It’s been a little more than two weeks since Stephen Colbert handed off his super PAC to Jon Stewart, and he made a surprise appearance on the Daily Show to demand it back. Evidently, it’s quite the cash cow! Politico reports that Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow raised a whopping $1,023,121 as of Monday, per a cheeky filing with the Federal Election Commission, which quoted Colbert as saying, “‘Yeah! How you like me now, F.E.C.? I’m rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure only committee ain’t one!” And although Stewart’s (absurdly legal) purchases of a jewel-encrusted crown and a mama-bird-style feeding from Mario Batali still wouldn’t have made a dent in that stash, Colbert wants his golden goose back. “I want my unlimited money, Jon!” he yelled. Stewart stalled with excuses and then bolted offstage, launching a mad chase that took them through Parkour tracks and the set of The View — where Stewart almost got away with Barbara Walters as his accomplice.
