Every president will spend much of his time feigning interest in mundane things, but the skill will be particularly vital for presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, who sorely needs to present himself as someone who understands and appreciates the Common Man and the boring things that the Common Man makes in his factories. Which is why Romney began practicing the art form during a stop on his Every Town Counts But Not Really bus tour yesterday. Here he is at Monterey Mills in Janesville, Wisconsin, pretending to be impressed with a circular fabric thing forced upon him by his tour guide, the mill’s president. You’ve seen the expression before — it’s President Obama’s “childlike wonder” face.
