Today President Obama spared the lives of two turkeys named Cobbler and Gobbler, and noted that for the first time the winners of the White House Turkey Pardon were selected through an online vote. “And once again, Nate Silver completely nailed it,” said Obama. “The guy is amazing. He predicted these guys would win.” Obama also made a possible reference to Mitt Romney’s “gifts” comment, saying “in the spirit of the season I have one more gift to give,” and ignored a reporter’s shouted question about Gaza. John McCain has already headed home for the holiday, but expect to hear more about the president’s irresponsible approach to turkey pardoning on Meet the Press.
