Though many hoped that the hard drive from Adam Lanza’s computer would provide some clues about why he went on the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School, investigators said on Monday that it may be beyond repair. The FBI is still trying to recover information from the disk, but it looks like it was smashed with a hammer or a screwdriver and may have been overwritten. “The kid knew what he was doing,” said a law enforcement source. “This was a planned event. There is no question about it.”
