In response to a request from Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy, on Thursday Governor Cuomo announced that New York will observe a moment of silence for the victims of the Newtown massacre at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. As in many other states, he’s also asked that houses of worship ring their bells 26 times. Stockbridge First United Methodist Church in Georgia says it will ring its bells 27 times to include Nancy Lanza, the shooter’s mother. “I think for us, she’s a victim, too,” said the Rev. Jody Ray. “We probably should have included the young man who committed the crime … At the end of the day, people are dead and in response to tragedy, we want to remember all those who were involved … We’re not going to stand in judgment.”
