On Monday, the remains of a woman in her twenties wearing a gold pig necklace were found on a beach in Lattingtown, on Long Island’s north shore, raising suspicions that there may be a connection to bodies dumped near Gilgo Beach. Authorities in Nassau County have alerted Suffolk County police, who are leading the investigation into a possible serial killer, “that we have a victim near the water.” However, Det. Lt. John Azzata added, “there are other dissimilarities so it’s much too early to say that we definitely have a connection.” The remains of 24-year-old Shannan Gilbert, whose disappearance sparked the discovery of ten bodies on the beach, have been found, but more than two years later the murders remain unsolved.
