Qari Abdul Hayee, a leading militant in Pakistan, has been arrested for helping to facilitate the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002, CNN reports. Hayee, who was acquitted of killing six Shiites in 2003, is also suspected in three recent bombings by the sectarian group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, according to the New York Times. While Ahmed Omar Sheikh was convicted more than a decade ago of masterminding the Pearl plot, and a handful of others have been charged in the crime, the government says at least twelve militants involved are still out there. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has also confessed to murdering Pearl, and the veins in his hands have been matched to some in the brutal beheading video, but he was never charged so as not to complicate his trial for the September 11 attacks.
