A judge pushed the once-cold case forward today despite the defense’s claims that “no evidence or witnesses have been found corroborating any of the few facts” in Pedro Hernandez’s confession to the 1979 kidnapping and murder of Soho 6-year-old Etan Patz. Hernandez’s lawyers blamed his admission on mental illness, but Patz’s parents will finally get a shot at justice and closure, depending on how a New York jury ultimately rules.
