Bill Thompson is the third Democratic candidate to join New York’s Chris Smith and take questions from readers, as submitted via comments and Twitter. The party’s 2009 candidate, who trails Christine Quinn and Bill de Blasio in the polls this time around, took a few shots at the latter, doubting his status as the race’s “true progressive.” Thompson also explained why he called the response to stop-and-frisk an “overreaction” earlier this year and how he plans to work with the teachers union that endorsed him. “If anybody agrees all the time, there’s something wrong,” he said.
Next up in Daily Intelligencer’s ongoing mayoral series are John Liu and Anthony Weiner.
