As we eagerly await news of Anthony Weiner’s inevitable cable TV gig, we almost forgot to speculate about the future of New York’s other scandal-plagued candidate. Thankfully Page Six is on it, reporting that Eliot Spitzer was overheard at Prime Grill Tuesday telling his lunch companion that his unsuccessful run for comptroller will make it easier to run for another office in the near future. A source identified only as a “political savant” said there are rumors that he might challenge state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman or state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. “Eliot is not contemplating a run for office,” his spokeswoman, Lisa Linden, told Politicker. “His conversation at lunch had nothing to do with politics.
