George Zimmerman Also Accused of Choking Girlfriend, Loses Gun for Now

Following his arrest yesterday on domestic-violence charges, Florida blight George Zimmerman had his bond set at $9,000 this afternoon, and is due back in court on January 7, 2014. Zimmerman’s attorneys noted the acquitted Trayvon Martin killer’s “no prior criminal convictions” and “significant ties to the community,” but in considering his release the judge said he took into account claims by an attorney for Zimmerman’s girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, that Zimmerman is suicidal and choked Scheibe in a previous incident a week and a half ago. It was not reported to police at the time. (Yesterday, while on the phone with 911, she said, “You put your gun in my freaking face.”)

While out on bond, Zimmerman must relinquish control of any and all weapons or firearms, is prevented from traveling outside of Florida, and cannot return to his girlfriend’s home, even to get his stuff, which must be retrieved by a third party. Noting that there’s a gun in the residence, the judge said, in an understatement, “This is a volatile situation, potentially.”

Update: Bad day.
