The new cable-news program hosted by Ronan Farrow, the biological son of Mia and Woody (or Frank Sinatra?), premieres in a few months on MSNBC but the 25-year-old lawyer, journalist, and boy genius has yet to settle on a name.
“One gold standard is Hardball With Chris Matthews,” said Farrow, an avowed Matthews fan, although he may employ a lighter touch himself. Cable news doesn’t play well with millennials, but Farrow wants his show to be for centrist viewers of all ages. “It’s a serious news show that’s got a lot of cool, edgy pieces to it,” he said at last night’s GQ Men of the Year Dinner honoring Justin Timberlake. “If you come up with the name, I will mention on the air that it’s yours.”
So Daily Intelligencer brainstormed a few suggestions on the spot:
Left Turn With Ronan Farrow? “Too political,” he said.
Ronan Holiday? “Not bad,” but not as good as the titles he countered with: The Rise and Fall of the Ronan Empire and Times New Ronan.
Crate & Farrow? “A little too gentrified.”
“Someone on Twitter suggested Farrow & Balanced,” he said. “And we can’t do Farrow & Friends. You know what, we’ll get there.”
