For Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman Sachs, 2013 was a year of restoration. After five years of being seated in restaurant Siberias and having people yell “squid!” at him during his morning jog, Blankfein grew a beard, gave his junior bankers the weekend off, and passed the albatross of public villainy to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
Now, Blankfein is getting a raise to go with his new lease on life. DealBook reports that with his cash bonus on top of his $2 million salary, Blankfein will likely make about $23 million for 2013, up from $21 million the previous, unbearded year. That’s $3 million more than Jamie Dimon hauled in, even with his 74 percent raise. Someone’s going to need another pep talk.
