Like Lindsay Lohan before him, Panama’s onetime dictator Manuel Noriega is suing the video game company Activision for using his likeness without permission. Noriega, who has a character named for him in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, says the game paints him as “a kidnapper, murderer and enemy of the state.” For what it’s worth, Noriega has been convicted of both kidnapping and murder.
In the game, the 80-year-old, who went back to Panama in 2011 after 22 years in American and French prisons, is portrayed as a friend of the CIA who then betrays them. In real life, he was a friend of the CIA until his propensity for offing his opponents soured the relations with the U.S. Noriega is asking for damages and a cut of the game’s enormous profits.
