On Sunday, Congo’s health minister, Felix Kabange Numbi, announced that at least 2 people have died from the Ebola in his country, while 11 are currently sick with it. Numbi also insisted that Congo’s outbreak “had nothing to do” with the one raging in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, and Nigeria. A WHO spokesman said that it is “possible” that the outbreaks are not linked. According to the BBC, Ebola has appeared in Congo seven times since it was first identified there in 1976.
