Dallas Ebola Victim’s Family Reaches a Settlement With Hospital

The Dallas hospital that treated U.S. Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan has reached a settlement with the patient’s family. Relatives of Duncan, the only person in the U.S. to die of the disease, will receive an unknown sum from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Money from the agreement will provide for Duncan’s four children and his parents, and the hospital won’t charge the family for his care. Funds will also go to starting a foundation to fight Ebola in Duncan’s home country of Liberia, which his nephew told reporters will show “that he didn’t die in vain.”
