Just a few hours after Gawker reported that the NYPD might be responsible for rumors about Bill de Blasio’s supposedly enduring fondness for marijuana, the mayor posted the above photo to Twitter. ”#TBT to my NYU days,” he — or whoever runs his Twitter account — wrote. (The candid shot goes quite nicely with this NYU yearbook picture, not unlike the lamp and the tissue box you can see in the background up there.) Social-media coincidence, or some kind of message? It’s difficult to tell.
