From the state assemblywoman who brought us anti-pet-tattoo legislation comes a new bill that aims to further stamp out animal cruelty in our fine state. Linda B. Rosenthal plans to present a bill to the State Senate that would ban people from declawing cats unless it was deemed medically necessary, telling Gothamist, “I don’t think it’s our right to mutilate our animals for our own satisfaction.” No more declawing Fluffy just because she likes to scratch your fancy couch!
