We’re halfway through July, but until this morning, there was still snow on the ground in Boston. The last of the city’s historic snowfall, a disgusting frozen mass of dirt, snow, and trash, was officially pronounced melted this morning.
The pile lived and died at Tide Street Snow Farm, one of the city’s many snow-collection zones during a winter that broke records for snowfall. In February, it stood five stories high; by late May, it had shrunk to six feet or so; and at 9 a.m. today, Boston’s mayor tweeted:
So the big pile is gone, but according to Massachusetts’s Emergency Management Agency, a pocket of snow is still clinging to an overpass north of Boston.
