Stay away from parts of Second Avenue in Brooklyn this afternoon, or you may grow a third arm. The Gowanus Canal, a toxic cesspool of sewage water that people regrettably live and work near, is overflowing into the streets following heavy precipitation on Wednesday. Parts of Brooklyn received an inch of rain in about a half-hour, and the Gowanus could not handle both a downpour and some of the nation’s most polluted canal water. Some people dared to approach the flooded streets so you could see the gross scene up close:
The good news is, it’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so please prepare yourself for the stench of a Superfund site.
