Shannon Lamb, the man suspected of fatally shooting two people including a Delta State University professor, shot and killed himself as police tried to apprehend him. Lamb had told police he was “not going to jail,” and on Monday night officers in Greenville, Mississippi, saw Lamb pull over his car and run into the woods. As police pursued him, they heard a single gunshot and then found his body. Lamb, 45, was an instructor of geography and social-science education at Delta State. He’s suspected of killing his girlfriend Amy Prentiss, 41, who was found dead in the home they shared, and history professor Ethan Schmidt, 39, who was shot in the head in his office on campus. Officers say Lamb’s motive is unknown.
