Who’ll Get In: Hipsters with their first real job.
Celebri-sightings: Hip-hop stars like Kelis and cool rock bands like the Raconteurs.
What to Wear: Tsubi jeans and Versace boots.
Rope-Burn Intensity (difficulty of getting in during peak hours, with 10 being the most difficult): 4 out of 10.
Dirty Disco
Who’ll Get In: The upscale hip-hop crowd.
Celebri-sightings: All the pop stars: Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Kelis, Usher. During Friday and Saturday nights at Hiro [where Dirty Disco partner Yuval Eder was events director], you’d walk through and be like, “Look, it’s Usher! Look, it’s Mick Jagger!”
What to Wear: Ladies need a Dior, Fendi, or Chloé purse; boys need to be in their best, with bling-bling.
Rope-Burn Intensity: 7 out of 10.
Room Service
Who’ll Get In: The party set that flies in to check out hot new clubs.
What to Wear: Look hot and sexy for your boyfriend; your best Gucci stilletos and a sexy top, maybe from H&M. (Every celeb and hipster in New York shops there—they just don’t admit it.)
Rope-Burn Intensity: 4 out of 10—you can buy your way in. Just don’t wear shorts or sneakers.
Rose at Gramercy Park Hotel
Who’ll Get In: People who they want to let in and no one else. It’s like a Bungalow 8 situation. I’ve had friends that haven’t been able to get in.
Celebri-sightings: This isn’t for the up-and-coming starlets. It’ll be A-listers who want to be read about in the gossip columns.
What to Wear: Expensive brands. Stella McCartney, Chanel, Dior Homme.
Rope-Burn Intensity: 9 out of 10.
Star Lounge
Who’ll Get In: The upscale bottle-service crowd; hip-hoppers with money; a lot of music and entertainment people mixed with some business people.
Celebri-sightings: Young party celebrities who love to go to the new clubs: the Hiltons, Nicole Richie, socialites like your Tinsley Mortimers.
What to Wear: Your new designer best, especially Hamptons weekend-vacation chic. The Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress, anything from Tory Burch. Lots and lots of Juicy Couture.
Rope-Burn Intensity: 8 out of 10.
Studio B
Who’ll Get In: Rock-and-rollers and members of up-and-coming New York bands. This’ll be the new Brooklyn hotspot, since Greenpoint is fast becoming the neighborhood that Williamsburg used to be.
Celebri-sightings: Members of the Strokes and Interpol. When bands like Wolf Mother are touring, they’ll have their after-party here or hang out here.
What to Wear: Your newest skinny jeans and Converse sneakers. When in doubt, always wear your skinny jeans. The ladies will be in their latest vintage finds.
Rope-Burn Intensity: 3 out of 10.
Tenjune
Who’ll Get In: The meatpacking crowd. Some are New Yorkers, some are tourists, and they all think it’s the hot place. I think the term “bridge and tunnel” is becoming obsolete because look who lives in Manhattan these days.
Celebrity-sightings: Big hip-hop and R&B stars.
What to Wear: As chic and upscale as possible. Heels and the latest dress, probably from Intermix. For the boys, it’s all about what’s going to set you apart. Look put together in your new suit from Zegna. And have a credit card with a lot of space on it.
Rope-Burn Intensity: 7 out of 10.
