Ghana is sometimes referred to as Africa’s “Gold Coast,” because of its abundance of natural resources cocoa and gold. But as the price of gold has been soaring, so has the effort to smuggle it out of the West African region. Zinhle Essamuah reports from Kumasi, Ghana, on how small-scale miners and refinery workers are being affected.
