One-hundred years ago this January, Prohibition was passed into law. To mark the centennial of this failed social experiment, join cocktail historian Dave Wondrich, as he sits down with food and culture editor Ariel Lauren Wilson, to revisit this unprecedented effort to restrict one of America’s favorite pastimes, drinking. Bridget Firtle, founder and head distiller of Brooklyn’s own Prohibition-inspired Owney’s Rum, and Karl Franz Williams, owner of 67 Orange Street, a Harlem speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar, will also be in attendance. Afterward, sample a Prohibition-era cocktail with Owney’s Rum and enjoy live jazz. NYxNY members are invited to join at the Museum of the City of New York and get $5 off tickets.
