It’s a rare summer that brings one of golf’s Grand Slam events to a public course an hour’s train ride from midtown, but here it comes. Tickets to the U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park on Long Island sold out months ago, but because corporate-hospitality sales tanked, a limited number of grounds passes will be available on a first-come, walk-up basis beginning Thursday. So take Dad out to watch Tiger stalk his fifteenth major title (and his first since his dramatic, injury-hobbled Open win at Torrey Pines last year) on the mighty Black Course (daily and weekly badges, $40 to $400; usga.org). Practice rounds start Monday, June 15, and, barring a playoff, the four-day championship concludes, quite conveniently, on Father’s Day.
