You’d expect a restaurant named Northern Spy Food Co. (511 E. 12th St., nr. Ave. A; 212-228-5100) to make the most of apple-pie season, and with this super-crisp, butter-crusted beauty, layered with an aromatic mixture of variously textured Cortland, Winesap, Golden Delicious, and Northern Spy apples, the East Village yearling doesn’t disappoint. New pastry chef Lauren Soutiere serves it by the à la mode slice for $7 and, if given 48 hours’ notice, will also sell whole pies to go ($40).
