At least twice a year, Glamour (and Lucky, and ELLE…) advises to splurge on a simple party dress. “It’s classic,” “it lasts a lifetime,” you know the drill. But taking care of a classic takes major work, and dry cleaning, wrinkle steaming, and closet hanging don’t happen when—like me—you barely have time to eat. If you’re not ready to make a major fashion commitment, consider this new dress from J.Crew instead. The halter cut flatters almost anyone, the length works for many occasions, and if you use Woolite, you can put it in the washing machine and wear it again the next day. (Shhh!)
